Spent the last two days at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Booksellers Convention in Salt Lake City. It is always encouraging to see those committed to spreading the Gospel through their bookstores and online.  While we were there an article written by Stephanie Abney went live on KSL.com.  Within the first eight hours, it received thirty five thousand hits and sent close to five thousand people to our blog spot.  Here is the link to the article, share it with as many as you can.  http://www.ksl.com/?nid=1016&sid=21598814  We are filling our schedule with firesides and  book signings.  If you are interested in having us speak, please contact Cecily Markland.  Her contact info is listed below.

Former Evangelical Pastor Tells of Conversion to LDS Church

For more than 27 years, as an evangelical pastor, Tom Scott believed that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the “Mormons”) was a cult, far from believers in Christ.
Then, through a series of events, including moving into a “Mormon” neighborhood in Provo, Utah, Tom and his wife, Maggie, had interactions with members of the LDS Church that showed them otherwise. They not only ended up converting to the LDS Church, but Tom has now written a book, recently published by Arizona-based Inglestone Publishing, titled: It’s True: An Evangelical Pastor’s Journey to Truth in the Mormon Church.
“Not in a million years would we have dreamed that this was the plan for us. However the peace that we are experiencing tells us that we are exactly where we belong,” Scott said.
Of the LDS people, he said, “Get to know them. You’ll be overwhelmed by the love of people that exemplify the love of Christ in a way you can’t even imagine. That’s what drew us to the Latter-day Saints Church.”
The intent, with his book and with speaking engagements across the country, is not to disparage other religions or convince anyone of the truth of the LDS Church. Instead, he hopes to foster understanding about the nature of the LDS Church as well as create greater unity among all faiths.
He added, “Many share the scripture: ‘And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.’ However, through this process, I’ve learned it’s only the truth that you KNOW that can set you free, and you must be willing to KNOW that truth for this to happen!”
His ultimate hope is to encourage all who claim that they are Christians—including those who are LDS—to live in a more Christ-like manner.
“My heart’s cry is for all church and denominations and their wonderful people. My prayer is that, by God’s grace, they might experience truth in their lives and movements. I know this: the Heavenly Father loves all His children and is always reaching in love to bring unity to His people.
The Scotts will be in Arizona to share their message on July 20 through 23. They will sign books at Latter-day Cottage in Tucson (7012 East Broadway Boulevard) on Friday, July 20, from 3 to 6 p.m., and will present a book talk in the store at 6:30 that evening. On Saturday, July 21, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., they will sign books at Latter-day Cottage in Mesa (2820 E University Drive). A book talk will be held at 7:30 that evening at Helen Schlie’s Old and Rare Bookstore at 121 Mesa Drive.
On Sunday, July 22, the couple will speak to a group of single young adults (ages 18 to 30) at 7 p.m. at the Red Mountain LDS Institute of Religion at 7126 E. McKellips in Mesa.
On Monday, July 23, the Scotts will speak at 7 p.m. at the LDS Church building at 1835 E. Missouri Ave., Phoenix. Members of all faiths are welcome at any of these events.

Today's action by the Supreme court to uphold the current health care law should serve as yet another loud alarm sounding in the spiritual ears of this nation's Christian comunity! Take a second and simply read the scripture that is below and then read it again, and again, and then one more time.

2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

If you will notice it does not refer to those needing to pray to be of any one denomination; only that you are the Fathers people who are called by His name. That means if Jesus Christ is your saviour you are being solicited to pray for your nation! Unfortunantly, many times we say we will pray in passing but we never really do and because of this, actions like today are becoming common place and our nations freedoms continue to deteriorate. I personally do not believe that it is to late for this great nation to rise out of this dark time and become all it is supposed to be in this world. However, the responsibility for this change sits directly on the shoulders of Christians who use their power of choice to pray for this nation.  If we all do, and I do mean all of us, the scripture is very clear that we will hear from heaven, our sins will be forgiven, and our land will be healed.

I pray this day that unity amoung believers will happen in the coming days and that all will sense the burden to pray for this nation as never before. The alarm is and has been sounding! Please don't roll over and hit the snooze button again only to wake up and find our freedoms have been taken from us.

We continue to see amazing things happening as we get the "IT'S TRUE" message out in the church comunity. We are excited to say in the very near future, you will be seeing our book in Deseret and Seagul bookstores.  We also have upcoming articles being released in the Deseret News and the July issue of the Beehive magazine out of Arizona. We are thankful for the opportunity to ecourage those who are in the church to stay strong in their faith. The other part of our vision is to take this message to as many outside of the church as possible. We are busy sharing our vision with as many as we can. One of the ways we are accomplishing this is through "Home Talks." This allows Maggie and I to present our vision to reach out with our book to those who would not normally purchase a book on their own.  If you are willing to open your home and invite a few people to hear our heart please let us know. We believe that a great harvest is coming to the church and our desire is to do everything we can to follow the Spirits leading to reach those without the Gospel!

Many of us as believers love to quote the scripture, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make ye free." (John 8:32)  This is one of my favorite scriptures.  However, it is important to remember that it is only the truth you know that has the ability to set you free.  So if there is truth that you don't know it could cause you to remain in bondage.  How important is knowledge?  "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." (Hosea 4:6)  Let us all be people who seek after knowledge so we can walk in the freedom our Heavenly Father desires for us to walk in.

"It's True" is starting to catch momentum and we are hearing from people from all over the country! The amazing thing is as we talk to people around our nation we have found two core beliefs in common. One is that Jesus is the savior of the world and the other is the belief that we have a Heavenly Father who loves all his children unconditionally, regardless of their church affiliation or religion. Wow! We sure have a lot  in common. As we continue to grow we will endeavor to bring unity to all those who call themselves by the name of Christ. Join us in spreading this message to all your friends and let's see the amazing things that will be accomplished in the coming days because of the choice we make to live in the power of agreement!

Excerpt from my book - It's True

Standing on the top step of the baptismal font in the Northridge Stake Center in Orem, Utah, I watched as my beautiful wife, Maggie, was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I wondered at that moment what was going through her mind as she went under the water. Was she thinking of the first time she was baptized as a new Christian or wondering about the more recent events that brought her to this decision? By entering the waters of baptism, my wife and I were joining this church called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We were becoming what some people call "LDS" or "Mormons." More importantly, we were acting on what we had come to know as the Truth.

At the church building that day the room was filled with people, 98 percent of whom were complete strangers only five months earlier; yet, now everyone I could see felt like family, almost as though I had always known them. Some were part of the LDS church, others were from the company I worked for, still others were from a company I am associated with on a part time basis. I will be sharing more about these amazing saints as the story progresses.

When it was my turn, I stepped into the waters of baptism and immediately sensed in my spirit that this was part of a great destiny for me and my family. Things would never be the same again and I realized that at age fifty, my whole life had been in preparation for this moment and what was to come. So, what was it that would prompt me, a fifty-year-old evangelical pastor, to make this decision and be baptized into a faith that at one time I boldly proclaimed as nothing more than a cult? What would cause me to put myself in a place to be criticized by those who at one time were my best friends?

I will attempt to answer these and other questions as I share with you my journey and describe my pathway to truth.
